Sulzer - Diffuser Style Barrel Pump (GVG)

The Diffuser Style Barrel Pump (GVG) is a maximum safety pump engineered for use in nuclear power plants, specifically designed to charge reactor coolant. This vertical, back-to-back barrel type pump features a high number of stages to generate high pressure at small capacities with direct drive. Its double casing design ensures maximum safety, while the high alloyed barrel material provides excellent corrosion resistance. The pump includes a double mechanical seal with an external seal water cooler, product-lubricated radial bearings, and an axial thrust anti-friction bearing for residual axial load. Pipework connections remain undisturbed during cartridge disassembly, supporting ease of maintenance. Common applications include reactor cooling and control rod drive in nuclear facilities.
