Hardware at TRACTIAN

The Hardware team is responsible for designing and improving our IoT devices, dealing with every step of the development process, ranging from PCB design, firmware programming, case design, validations and certifications, always aiming to build trustworthy products that can be produced at a mass scale.


What you'll do

As a Quality Engineer at Tractian, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality standards for our hardware products and solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure that our products meet rigorous quality requirements and exceed customer expectations. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying and collaborating with suppliers who share our commitment to excellence, further enhancing our supply chain efficiency and ensuring the consistent quality of the materials used in our products. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional IIoT solutions to industries worldwide.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the design and manufacturing teams to define quality standards, specifications, and inspection criteria for mechanical components and assemblies.

Conduct thorough quality assessments of incoming materials, ensuring they meet specified requirements and are free from defects.

Develop and implement quality control processes, including inspection plans, testing procedures, and relevant documentation.

Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for any quality issues identified during testing or production, and track these actions to closure.

Participate in the design review process to provide insights on potential quality concerns and ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM and DFA).

Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.

Collaborate with suppliers to improve component quality, resolve quality-related issues, and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain.

Work closely with the production team to support process validation and ensure consistency in manufacturing processes.

Maintain accurate records of quality assurance activities, including test results, inspection reports, and non-conformance documentation.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality manuals.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing or technology-driven environment.

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Familiarity in quality tools, methodologies and documentation such as 8D, DMAIC, NCR, EA and statistical process control.

Experience with inspection techniques, metrology, GD&T, and non-destructive testing methods.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead root cause analysis investigations.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is a plus.

Reading and Writing English proficiency.

Bonus Points

Experience with microcasting and sintering.

Experience with plastic injection and mold manufacturing.

Strong understanding of Reliability Engineering and its tools.

Spanish proficiency.
